DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION POLICY

Queensboro Dance Festival is committed to cultivating, embodying, and upholding a workplace culture of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). It is a necessary and inherent nature of our organization, strongly aligned with and reflective of our mission, values, and programs to properly serve our community.

We uphold a workplace where we embrace differences in age, color, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, and veteran status among employees, independent contractors, volunteers, staff, and board members. We respect and value the variety of perspectives, life experiences, and cultures, and provide equal opportunities where all voices feel heard. We recognize that diversity, inclusion, and equity are keys to the success of our mission, and also fosters creativity, collaboration, and engagement.

  • Commitment of time and resources to foster opportunities to maximize organizational participation that directly reflects our Queens community, striving for majority BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) individuals who hold our core values of Equity, Curiosity, Quality, and Connection
  • Respectful and transparent communication (speaking and listening) among employees and staff
  • Teamwork and cooperative mindset
  • Flexibility within reason to accommodate staff’s various needs at work
  • Leadership as representatives of the organization to be open, tolerant, and accepting in daily interactions with one another and with the public

  • Conscientiousness of the potential for bias during the hiring, promoting, and evaluating process.
All employees, volunteers, staff and board members of Queensboro Dance Festival have a responsibility to treat others with dignity and respect at all times. All employees, volunteers, staff and board members are expected to exhibit conduct that reflects Queensboro Dance Festival’s DEI policy and core values during work, at work functions on or off the work site, and at all other organization-sponsored and participative events. All employees, volunteers, staff and board members are also required to attend and complete annual diversity awareness training to enhance their knowledge to fulfill this responsibility.
Any employee, volunteer, staff, or board member found to have exhibited any inappropriate conduct or behavior against others will be subject to disciplinary action.
Any employee, volunteer, staff, or board member who believe they have been subjected to any kind of discrimination that conflicts with the company’s diversity policy and initiatives should seek assistance from a supervisor.
